Good Companions Club Rules


  1. The Club shall be known as the "Good Companions" Social Club and its object is to provide social activities.

  2. Acceptance to membership must be on the undertaking by the proposed member to abide by the Club rules and on the understanding that neither the Officers nor the Committee can in any way be held liable for any personal loss or injury sustained on Club events.

  3. The Committee shall be empowered to terminate membership in cases of misconduct or behaviour considered detrimental to the Club. In cases of expulsion the Chairman or an Officer must give an explanation for such action if requested to do so at the following Annual General Meeting.

  4. The Club reserves the right to refuse admission to an individual to any event without having to offer an explanation.

  5. Member may bring as visitors, relatives or friends to Club events providing that they give notice and contact the organiser, but priority must be given to Club Members.

    1. Printed programmes will be issued to cover a two-month period, each programme giving a minimum of eight items. Every effort will be made to include one item at weekends, also to provide for Bank Holidays.
    2. Programmes must indicate rendezvous, time and as fully as possible costs, and expected additional expenses. Members must be prepared to accept that unforeseen increases can arise and are advised to make allowance for this.

    1. An annual subscriptions will be sent to cover the printing and postage of programmes, publicity and correspondence.
    2. Membership will be terminated if subscriptions are not paid by the end of that year (December 31st).
    3. In cases of illness or a period of temporarily moving away from the district, arrears of subscriptions may be waived.

  6. The Committee shall consist of a minimum of 4 up to a maximum of 8 fully paid-up Members who will be proposed, seconded and elected at the annual General Meeting. From those Committee Member a Hon. Chairman, Vice Chairman, Treasurer and Secretary will be selected.

  7. All club members will be encouraged to organise club events and can be supported to do this by committee members.

  8. These rules will be reviewed annually at the AGM.

  9. In the event of closure of the club, all club assets will be donated to a chosen charity, in which case an Extra-Ordinary General Meeting would be called giving at least one months notice.
